Affinity had the inspired idea of asking professionals to create sessions showing how they use Affinity graphics software in their day-to-day working lives. Those learning Affinity software or those just interested to find out more could tune in everyday to catch these free insightful sessions and hopeful take their mind off the Coronavirus lockdown taking place in many countries around the world at the time.
I was asked to create a session around the methods we use within Affinity Photo to create the colourful textures we use on our animated characters. We have been using Affinity software for quite some time now as an alternative to Adobe’s creative suite.
I have to be honest and say that I have never been a fan of Adobe. I’ve had extensive experience over the years of using a wide variety of software (having spent over 15yrs in the film effects industry) and Adobe software has always seemed a little bloated and unnecessarily complex. Add to that its overpriced subscription model where you can end up paying thousands of pounds and ultimately own nothing and we were very keen to find an alternative.
Although Affinity Photo is not as feature-heavy as Photoshop (not necessarily a downside) it has proved its worth and is now a fundamental part of our workflow.
Here is my creative session…I hope it is useful to you…
