Our Climate Commitment
At Tapocketa, the studio behind Untrodd Tales, we build digital worlds to inspire children. But we believe that creating magical experiences on screen shouldn't come at the cost of the physical world those children will inherit.
We are deeply committed to ethical screen time. For us, that doesn't just mean protecting children's attention and data—it means taking responsibility for the carbon footprint of the technology we use to deliver our stories.
We are proud to run a "Net-Zero Tech Stack." Here is exactly how we keep our studio and our interactive books as green as possible.
100% Green Web Hosting
Our interactive reading platform and library rollouts are proudly hosted by Krystal Hosting, an independent, UK-based certified B-Corp. Our servers are powered entirely by 100% renewable energy, ensuring that every time a child opens Galdo's Gift, the data is delivered without a carbon footprint. This commitment has earned our platform independent verification from The Green Web Foundation.
Climate-Conscious Communications & Privacy
We refuse to use standard analytics platforms that harvest children’s data to sell to advertisers. Instead, we use GoSquared for our analytics and EcoSend for our newsletters. They are a UK-based, B-Corp certified software team that provides tracker-free, privacy-first data reporting, while actively planting trees and offsetting the carbon of every email we send to our community.
A Greener Studio
Behind the scenes, we have audited our day-to-day operations to ensure our money and our hardware align with our values:
Renewable Power: The Tapocketa studio is powered by Octopus Energy, the UK's leading investor in renewable energy generation.
Refurbished First: E-waste is a massive issue in the creative industries. We operate on a "refurbished first" policy, sourcing our studio hardware from certified refurbishers like Hoxton Macs, and utilizing highly energy-efficient Apple Silicon to render our animations.
Ethical Banking: We bank with Monzo, ensuring that our studio's deposits are never used to fund fossil fuel extraction or carbon-intensive industries.
A Work in Progress
We know there is always more to do. As Tapocketa and Untrodd Tales continue to grow alongside our library partners and Arts Council England, we are committed to continually auditing our digital waste, refining our infrastructure, and proving that purpose-driven tech can power public education safely and sustainably.
